Karen Dunivan Konvicka, Special Needs and Elder Law attorney, has been extended an invitation to join the Special Needs Alliance (SNA), a national, non-profit collective of many of America’s leading disability and public benefits attorneys who are committed to the practice of disability and public benefits law. SNA membership is based on relevant legal experience in the disability and elder law fields, direct family experience with disability, active participation with national, state, and local disability advocacy organizations, and professional reputation.
As a member of SNA, Karen will have the backing of this national network of attorneys who provide legal advice and financial planning assistance to families with loved ones who have special needs, including estate planning, guardianship, benefits counseling, settlement consultation, and the creation and administration of special needs trusts. Karen is one of only nine attorneys in the organization serving the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Membership to SNA is selective and competitive; attorneys must meet specific criteria to ensure that SNA clients are served with the utmost professionalism and compassion. Criteria include a minimum number of years of practice in the special needs area and proven involvement with disability advocacy organizations. Many SNA attorneys have personal experience with individuals with special needs—either as a sibling or parent.
